Letter of Inquiry – SAMPLE LETTER 1.

Dear Sir / Madam

I am writing in response to your advertisement for public speaking courses for beginners. I am interested in applying for a course because I will have to give presentations in future as part of my job.

Firstly, could you tell me the difference between the content of the two-day and three-day courses for those with no previous experience of speaking in public? Secondly, I would like to know the timetable and the total number of hours of the courses. I would also be grateful if you could tell me when the next available course is starting in my area. I would also appreciate some information about the instructors, if possible. Could you also tell me how many people are on each course?

Finally, the advertisement mentions that there are discounts for group reservations. I plan to do the course with a friend of mine and wanted to know whether or not you could offer us a discount.

I look forward to receiving your reply.

Yours faithfully

Markus Link

Letter of Inquiry – SAMPLE LETTER 2.

Dear Dr Andrew Lang

My name is Peter Brown and I am a second year ELTE undergraduate student majoring in microbiology. I am writing to express my interest in doing independent research in your laboratory I would like to know if I could start in January 2019. Could you also inform me if I can take part in the research project as part of the Student Research Program offered by the Undergraduate Research Center?

As a microbiology major, I am interested in research that focuses on the genetics and molecular biology of microorganisms. Your work studying the molecular basis for bacterial communication sounds very exciting. I would be very interested to learn more about this topic and I would appreciate more information about the techniques that your laboratory uses.

I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to meet with you to discuss projects in your laboratory. I am available on Tuesdays after 2pm and on Friday afternoon for an interview. I have attached my CV for your review.

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely

Peter Brown
